Today I'm highlighting a work at home busines for natural products, or soaps using essential oils. You may think there is too much competition for this market but don't be suprised how many people you know and come into contact with that will love your products if you give them a chance to use them.
There's lots of info nowdays online to help you get started for free. I signed up for a wonderful program called and subscribed to essenailsoap channel on you tube, but if you look around there are many great videos.

You can even start with premade kits, there are lots to choose from, I find Amazon usually has the best selections and prices.
Start with one product ie soap, and make several variations, then you could introduce new product lines and if you already have a list of customers you will have a ready sales list to announce your new products to. Here are some ideas on how to get your first sales without doing a professional website and business plan.
1. Make a simple website with wordpress or blogger. You can start for free and when you begin to make sales you can pay for your own domain name. Make sure to check that your name is available. You will want to make up a simple logo and styling for your product line, and use these colors in all your promotional brochures, flyers, gift tags, etc. You should also look into a way to collect people's contact information so you can get a list or prospective customer, or people who are interested in your products. Once your little business starts to take off you will want to let them know your new products lines.
2. Tell all your friends when you see them how much you're enjoying making your new home business and offer to let them try some of your goodies out, and ask them what they think. You could do this in exchange for a review on your website, which you should start as soon as you're serious about making it into a small business. You could host a dinner party or bbq, afternoon tea etc so it isn't salesy. Your friends will only be too happy when you're giving them something free, and who doesn't love homemade skincare products.
3. You could make up fliers and a professional brochure to pop into neigbours letter boxes, especially around holidays and gift giving days. Be creative, make products for seasons like dry skin in winter, sunburn soothing in summer. You may also be able to address certain skin conditions for eg. asthma or psoriasis.
4. Give your products as gifts, make samplers and put together little gift baskets, Here are some of the bestsellers on Amazon, I personally love a beautiful basket for my gifts, it just seems to add more value. Make sure you have a lovely gift tag with your contact info and put your brochure in with your gifts for future purchases.
5. If you're a Mom your school and church groups are a great market for your products. Give the teachers gifts, birthday gifts, tell the moms at school how much your love making your products, you will find in no time you will begin to get sales.
6. Make sure you get all your customers emails and contact info so you can let them know when you have something new, or send a simple reminder every 3 or 6 months so they keep you in their minds, we are all busy and people need reminders, and just because you haven't had an order from someone doesn't mean they don't want to buy your products again.
These are just the basic steps to getting started with a home business. If you want to start in a more professional manner, you will want to look into setting up a website, getting your product line organized and branded and marketing your product from there. If this is something you want to do there are excellent courses online to take. Here's what you'll need to learn.
